The Edge Catholic Middle School Curriculum is designed to educate 6-8th grade students in the Catholic faith. The Edge program uses a variety of activities to engage learning and to inspire students to make their faith a personal commitment. Edge is composed of a six semester rotation of topics - Scripture, Sacraments, Church, Creed, Prayer, and Social Justice. This will be the ninth year that Holy Redeemer Church has utilized the Edge program as our middle school Faith Formation curriculum. In our two semesters for the 2020-2021 school year, we will be studying the topics Prayer and Social Justice. An Edge lesson includes four parts – Gather, Proclaim, Break, and Send. In the Gather portion of the night we participate in some kind of opening activity or challenge that has a connection to the main lesson of the night (the Proclaim). Then in the Break portion of the night we divide into small groups (6-10 students led by an adult) to discuss the lesson and how to incorporate it into our daily lives. We conclude together as a large group with the Send portion – a song, a prayer, and/or some type of sending forth mission.
