Dear Eucharistic Adoration Teams:
I thank all of you for your dedication to our ministry of praying constantly in the presence of our Lord in the Eucharist. Your dedication and intercession are great supports to the ministry we share in Jesus’ name. I ask that in your time before the Lord, you would hold up our parish, its ministries, and school as we begin to gear up for the return to a more active time in our year. I also ask that you remember Bishop LeVoir as he continues his healing journey and begins his retirement. Please ask God to bless Msgr. Douglas Grams as he leads us through this time of transition, and that we soon receive a new bishop to shepherd us on the pilgrimage of faith.
For the last six months, we have been using St. Mary’s Chapel for our time of Adoration. With school moving back to in-person teaching, the chapel will be needed both for Masses and for some class instruction. Our religious education program will also have need of the chapel space. In consultation with Deacon Ken and Quentin Brunsvold, I have decided it is time for us to move back to the St. Joseph Adoration Chapel. We will continue to use St. Mary’s Chapel until the close of Adoration at noon on August 28. On Sunday, August 30, we will open Adoration in the St. Joseph Adoration Chapel as in the past.
With this move back to the smaller chapel, we will need to be more aware of the demands of social distancing and the use of masks. Our calculation of the available space is that no more than three people from different households should be in the chapel at any one time. When more than one person from different households are in the chapel, the use of a mask or some face-covering is required. If you are in the chapel alone, no mask is required. The exceptions to this capacity rule would be when people from the same household are in the chapel together or when two couples are in the chapel together. In those cases, you could have more than three people. In the case of couples from different households, two different couples wearing masks would be the capacity, and one couple should sit in the front and to one side, and the other couple should sit towards the back on the other side. If a family all of the same household come to Adoration, the capacity is flexible, since there is no need for social distancing or the use of masks.
I know that these restrictions are irritating at times, but we do these things out of love for those we are with. I suspect that my mother would tell me that this irritation and discomfort would be something to offer up in prayer for the good of someone else.
If you have questions, please contact your division leader. Together, we can continue to give glory to God, be in the presence of the Lord, and be upheld by Him in all things.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
